APC bribing media to give nominees soft landing

POST-NIGERIA investigations have revealed that the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has resorted to bribing Nigerian media houses to give ministerial nominees of President Muhammadu Buhari a soft landing.

A source who spoke exclusively to POST–NIGERIA revealed that the APC since assumption, has tactfully enticed and converted media houses to its praise singers so as to appeal to the conscience of Nigerian citizens to buy more time, lest its unpreparedness be exposed.

Since assumption of office on May 29, Buhari deliberately delayed his ministerial nominations, and related the delay to the fiction of choosing men of “caliber and competence” who he will put through intense scrutiny with corruption tests topping the consideration list.

The first tranche of the list finally appeared just few hours to October 1, amidst Nigeria’s 55th Anniversary celebration to distract and divert attentions, even when the Senate President Bukola Saraki stated that the list will be made public on the next plenary day.

Some Media houses and sheer beneficiaries of APC’s enticement published the acclaimed Buhari champions to the heart break of Nigerians, with the likes of Babatunde Fashola, Rotimi Amaechi and Kayode Fayemi all dubious former Governors, who have trailing corruption allegations, in their numbers number.

This is not to mention the rest of his statesmen who have been exposed to political influence as opposed to Buhari’s criteria.

On the other hand, some paid no attention to all the reactions of Nigerians.

As the Independence Day euphoria was waved too quickly to respond to the reaction of Nigerians who were thrown off by the nominations, these praise singers, went on to chant praises for each nominee while paying deaf ears to Fashola’s N78 million scam, Amaechi’s looting in Rivers and Lai Mohammed’s airport renovation embezzlement scandal amongst others.

A source close to the APC when asked to confirm the authenticity of the list and his views stated;

“I know that people still don’t believe that is the list.

“What we have been doing since May 29, is liaison with the media to calm manage risky situations, a similar move is ongoing now to secure a soft landing for the list.

“Right now, the risk lies with the senate, the APC has done its bit for these men, the President has done his too. If they cannot stem any tide that rises in the media by themselves, then they aren’t worth the nominations”

In essence, they chant praises, keep mute or give excuses for the APC, as they are exactly rewarded to do; this has remained the case on all other issues of national importance; unavailability of an economic blueprint, the rise in death tolls as Boko haram strikes, the fight against corruption, and so on.

This appears to have worked for months, but does not seem well effective with the Ministerial list.

How long these media houses will continue to give excuses, remains unknown
