BISHOP PLEDGES CHURCH SUPPORT FOR WIKE …as vicar ENJOINS APC guber candidate to support Wike

Bishop of Niger Delta Diocese, Anglican Communion, Rt. Rev Ralph Ebirien has pledged the church’s support to the developmental efforts of Governor Nyesom Wike.

Speaking at the holy matrimony service between the daughter of immediate past Chief of Army Staff, Opunne Kenneth Minima and Lt Bonaventure Obonyano at St Cyprians Anglican Church on Saturday in Port Harcourt, Bishop Ebirein lauded Wike’s effort to restore the state back to its former status.

His words:  “We will help you restore Port Harcourt to its status as the Garden City and we will help keep the city clean and maintain it”, Bishop Ebirien promised.

The Anglican bishop was full of praises for Governor Wike over his strides to move the state forward since he assumed office on May 29th and later prayed for him and his team to succeed.

Earlier, the Vicar of St Cyprian’s Anglican Church, Venerable Abbey Kalio in his sermon,   enjoined the guber candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the April General Elections, Dakuku Peterside to support Governor Wike in transforming the state.

Ven Kalio advised thus:  “don’t’ worry the elections have come and gone and please don’t listen to any other voice than the voice of God”. He urged all to join hands with Governor Wike to build up Rivers State.

Kalio emphasized that the call has become imperative considering the challenges ahead, stressing that the time has come to move the state forward irrespective of  political affiliations.

The vicar who praised Wike for his achievements so far, counseled him to carry everybody along in the scheme of things.

He said: “be magnanimous in victory and victory should not give you pride. As you have started on a good note also end on a good note”, Kalio advised

The Anglican priest warned Wike to avoid the pitfalls of many politicians by avoiding sycophants.  He advised him to always do the wishes of the people and called on the populace to help the government successfully.

On the part of the church, venerable Abbey Kalio assured the governor that the church will always pray for him and his government to succeed.

Ven Kalio had earlier advised the newly married couple to make God their pillar, stressing that for the marriage to succeed, the wife must be submissive while the husband must shower her with love.
