Details Revealed Of Former Governor Suswam’s EFCC Interrogation For Financial Misconduct

Yesterday SaharaReporters reported the Monday arrest of former Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswam by agents of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Mr. Suswam was Governor of Benue State between 2007 and May 2015.

During a conversation between SaharaReporters and EFCC spokesman Wilson Uwujaren it was revealed that Mr. Suswam was interrogated from 10 AM yesterday to about 7 PM. According to Mr. Uwujaren the interrogation focused primarily on the wrongful diversion of public funds and questionable financial transactions while he was in office.

Earlier Mr. Uwajaren told media outlets that Mr. Suswam “was invited by the EFCC in connection with an ongoing corruption investigation in Benue State.”

Mr. Suswam was not the only member of his former administration brought before the EFCC.  According to a Vanguard report the EFCC also interviewed Mr. Suswam’s former finance minister, Mr. Omadachi Oklobia, on October 9th, 2015.

The goal of this interview was to procure further evidence against Mr. Suswam, according to the report.

At the time of this report Mr. Suswam was released on administrative bail but could be invited back for further questioning.
