The Bayelsa State governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson in continuation of hiscommunity based campaign tour at the weekend visited the Country home ofthe former governor and the All Progressives Congress candidate, Chief Timipre Sylva, assuring them of his administration’s resolve to award themulti billion naira Nembe/Brass road during the first quarter of 2016, ifre-elected for a second term in office.
The award of the contract as assured by the governor is in addition to theon-going Ogbia/Nembe road project and other developmental projects sitedin the area.
The Governor who was received by the Okpoama Council of chiefs commendedthe people of the area for their support and the large turnout, adding thatthis is a testimony to the fact that the people of Brass local governmentarea are in support of the PDP led administration.On the project, He said that it would be given due attention as it wouldenable the administration achieve its policy up the State to the AtlanticOcean to enhance socio-economic development.
According to the governor, clearing and sand filling would be done inearnest as soon as the project is awarded to a competent contractor.Commenting on the State Maritime Academy sited in Okpoma by the presentadministration, Governor Dickson expressed concern that the Institution isyet to function as expected due to financial constraints.
He explained that his administration went into partnership with the Polishgovernment, noting that the application for the project was not successful.Governor Dickson visited Odioma, Ewoama and Twon Brass and lauded thepeople for the warm reception accorded his campaign team and their sense ofmaturity as well as enlightenment on political issue.
While urging the Brass people to vote for the PDP, Governor Dicksonstressed the need for peaceful election, stating that he has no personalproblems with the candidate of the main opposition party in the State.
Dignitaries who gave solidarity speeches at the rally were the DeputyGovernor, Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John Jonah, Acting PDP chairman, ChiefSerena Dokubo Spiff, Senator Nimi Barigha Amange, Kind Amalate Turner andthe Chairman of the Brass local government, Mr. Andy Obed.
