The incendiary Governor from Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, berated the Independent National Election Commission (INEC) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) during a political rally in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State on Thursday.
This is the latest in a relentless series of outbursts from Mr. Fayose. Earlier this year Mr. Fayose gave a series of speeches about the health of then candidate for president Muhammadu Buhari. Governor Fayose has also been subject of an expose by SaharaReporters based off of an audiotape revealing he bribed Brigadier General Aliyu Momoh, alongside other powerful political players in Nigeria, to rig his gubernatorial election in Ekiti State.
Mr. Fayose targeted INEC saying that President Buhari was wrong to appoint his in-law relative as Chairman of INEC, particularly as the nation approaches the Kogi and Bayelsa State elections. Fayose said during the rally that, “we are watching INEC and its activities. We will not allow you to play pranks. This is an Ijaw State and so they are going nowhere. This is a PDP controlled state. No hidden agenda will work in Bayelsa.”
Mr. Fayose also addressed Seriake Dickson’s gubernatorial campaign in Bayelsa State saying, “In our place, it is one stone that scatters so many birds. Your (Dickson) stone will scatter their [APC’s] birds. I’ve worked with them before. I know their style and antics. So, fear not.”
