On the 61st anniversary of the country's independence, the singer observed that there isn't much to celebrate.

In a statement given to SaharaReporters, Kuti, who is the convener of an organization called Movement of The People, stated that Nigeria is on the verge of collapse, with high levels of hunger, insecurity, unemployment, and corruption.
He described the situation as "worrisome" and asked Nigerians to vote in order to restore the country's greatness.

He called the situation "dangerous" and urged Nigerians to vote to restore the country's glory.
The saxophone claimed that Nigeria's poverty rate had risen from 15% to 50%, claiming that the country had become the "world's poverty capital."
