The Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the state’s All Progressives Congress (APC) for what he termed barbaric behaviour, saying that the conduct of certain people at the venue of the election tribunal was nothing short of unleashing terror on members of the public.
In a press statement released on Wednesday and made avilable to the Nigerian Tribune signed by the party’s chairman, Chief Bayo Dayo, the PDP alleged that thugs from the APC camp besieged the venue of the tribunal hearing the gubernatorial petition of its candidate in the governorship election in the state, prince Gbarega Isiaka to foment trouble.
The statement read in part: “The All Progressive Congress (APC) led government in Ogun State yesterday(Tuesday) demonstrated a high level show of shame and gubernatorial petition of PDP and Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka and unleashed terror on the unsuspecting member of the public.
“The thugs from Ijebu Ode and Sagamu and supported by their counterparts from Abeokuta came in trucks and descended on the PDP members who came to witness the tribunal proceeding.
“Yesterday(Tuesday) was not the judgment day but assigned for the adoption of oral and written submission by the petitioners and the defense counsels.
“The state chairman of PDP Engr. Bayo Dayo in company of state secretary ,Alhaji Semiu Sodipo and other party executives were humiliated and subjected to severe torture by the hoodlums.
“But for the security operatives, the National Auditor, Alhaji Wole Adeyanju and the state Vice Chairman, Hon. Boye Adesina would have probably been sent to an untimely death.
They have to be whisked away amidst tight security by men of the police and the DSS.
“In fact the attitude of this APC members and their thugs clearly show that it never won the last elections in Ogun State which is the more reason the PDP and Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka is challenging the purported victory at the tribunal
