The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has cautioned President Muhammadu Buhari against what it termed as ‘brazen impunity’ being visited on governors elected on its platform by the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government agencies.
The opposition party repeated its allegation that there was a grand design by the APC to take Taraba, Rivers and Bayelsa States led PDP-state governments by all means there-by planting seed of discord amongst the people.
Speaking shortly after receiving briefing from the emabttled Taraba State Governor, Ishaku Darius on the recent election tribunal verdict that nullified his election as governor of the state, the acting PDP Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, said since the advent of the APC-led administration series of cases of inpunities have been visited at various points on members of the PDP states governors.
He said the president should note that without peace he cannot govern the country well, adding that it was for that reason the PDP decided not go to the tribunal to challenge the presidential election.”
He cautioned against imment crisis in the states where the mandate of the people was taken away by those duly elected by the electorate.
Secondus also said the party was solidly behind the Taraba State governor to exercise all legal avenues at his disposal to challenge the election tribunal judgement against him.
Governor Ishaku had informed the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) members of his decision to challenge the tribunal judgement against him said the “tribunal judgement was a very rude shock to people of the state”.
According to the Governor, “I’m not shaken, God is on the throne, light must defeat darkness” referring to the tribunal judgement.
“I’m appealing the judgement of the Kangaroo tribunal and I’m confident that there are still good judges that would give good judgement”, he said.
He said we would do everything possible to ensure no one is killed as a result of the judgement and we the political class must work towards avoiding the shedding of lives all in the name of seeking for political offices,” he stated
