Hon Abok Ayuba Nuhu, the Speaker of the Plateau State House Assembly, has been impeached.
According to the Daily Trust, he was impeached at the plenary on Thursday after 16 of the Assembly's 24 members voted him out.
He was replaced by Sanda Yakubu, a member of the state's Pingana constituency in the Bassa Local Government Area.
At the time of filing this report, the reason for Nuhu's expulsion was unknown.
Nuhu was accused of money misappropriation by the Youths Rights Against Corruption (YRAC) group, which filed a petition with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
He was also accused of misusing his position, according to the group.
In a petition titled "Petition Against Plateau State House of Assembly Speaker, Nuhu Abok Ayuba On Gross Financial Misconduct, Criminal Breach Of Public Trust, And Abuse Of Office," the group's Executive Director, Comrade Abednego Musa, asked Nuhu to resign immediately pending the outcome of the EFCC investigation.
