Enyimba appoints Finidi George as their new head coach.

Finidi George has been named as the new head coach of Enyimba Football Club.

The former Ajax and Real Betis winger has signed a two-year deal with the eight-time Nigerian champions, replacing Fatai Osho, whose contract ended at the end of August.

George, a legend of Nigeria's senior national team, made 62 appearances for the Super Eagles over the course of a fifteen-year playing career.

He was a vital component of the illustrious era that saw the country win the Africa Cup of Nations in 1994 and compete in two FIFA World Cups, in 1994 and 1998.

George played for Real Betis, RCD Mallorca, and Ipswich Town after winning the Uefa Champions League with Ajax in 1995.

“It's a fantastic chance for the club to have this faith in me,” says the player. I'd want to express my gratitude to the chairman, board members, and supporters for even considering me. On my part, I'll be here to work and finish the task. It'll never be easy, but I'm here to work hard and help the club win,” George said after signing his deal.

Enyimba's chairman, Felix Anyansi Agwu, claimed that George's signing marks the start of a new era for the club.

“I feel the moment has come for us as a club to start a new chapter, one that will highlight the countless hours of hard effort that have gone into the background and bring in a lot of success. The fact that we've hired a coach from Europe like Finidi George is a strong statement of purpose regarding our goals.”
