Enyimba, Wolves lose, Wikki win


THE intrigues of the Nigerian league continued yesterday with leaders Enyimba and Warri Wolves suffering slight setbacks in their Glo Premier League title chase, after both teams lost on the road. Despite the loss, Enyimba still top with 55 points from 30 games, while El Kanemi have 39 points.

Benjamin Turba opened the scoring for El Kaneni in the ninth minute with a rocket shot off impressive Chinedu Ohanachom’s assist.

Efe Yarhere doubled the hosts lead in the 28th minute.

Enyimba got a consolation goal on the 88th minute through substitute Nzube Anaezemba.

Wikki Tourists have moved back to the third position after beating Bayelsa United 2-0 at home

Shooting Stars scraped an hard-fought 1-0 over Akwa United in Ibadan, with Seun Akinyemi’s 12th minute goal being the only difference

Shooting dominated the game and should have scored more goals but for some outstanding saves by goalkeeper Kayode Olufemi.

Heartland were held to a goalless draw by Lobi Stars in Owerri while in Umuahia, Warri Wolves were beaten 2-1 by Abia Warriors.
