Euro 2020: Switzerland Will Be Tough Opponent For Spain -Enrique Declares Ahead Of Today’s Quarter-Final Clash

Spain coach Luis Enrique believes Switzerland will create a mountain of problems for his team in today’s Euro 2020 quarter-final game at the Saint Petersburg Stadium.

Recall that Switzerland produced The shock result of UEFA Euro 2020 so far, as they came from two goals down to beat France on penalties after their Round of 16 tie had ended in a 3-3 draw. Having only made it to the first knockout round with a win over Turkey on Matchday 3 of the group stage, the result against Les Bleus definitely came as a huge surprise.

On the other hand, Spain also saw their game go right down to the deep end, as they needed extra time to get the better of Croatia, with the pulsating encounter ending in a 5-3 win for them.

However, Enrique has explained that his players are at their top level in terms of fitness and stressed that the only issues they could face would be mental rather than physical.

Enrique also indicated that he is unsure whether the fact that Spain faced Switzerland in the Nations League last year is good for his team in terms of preparing for this game.

“Switzerland have qualified and the good thing or the bad thing is that the two teams know each other well,” added Luis Enrique.

“It will be a very difficult game. As a group they are one of the best teams in the Euros, because of how they press and attack.

“It will be very complicated. They don’t have many big names for the fans, but…

“In the game in Valdebebas we were superior, although it was complicated. In both games we were very good.

“Regarding the review of the goals conceded, the attitude of the team is very good and it is true that there were some individual errors.

“We are one of the best teams in defence. I complained about what we did with the ball in those last minutes.”
