Former Nigerian goalkeeper, Andrew Aikhomogbe believes Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr has named a formidable squad capable of beating Liberia and Cape Verde in the upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Recall that on Thursday, the German tactician invited called up 30 players for next month’s opening rounds of qualifiers, with notable names such as Wilfred Ndidi, Paul Onuachu, Kelechi Iheanacho, Joe Aribo, Maduka Okoye, Leon Balogun, Ahmed Musa, Alex Iwobi, Victor Osimhen and few others.
The Super Eagles will begin their Group C challenge against West African rivals Liberia on September 3 at the Teslim Balogun Stadium before travelling to Cape Verde four days later.
Rohr picked a strong team for the two matches which include seven players that would replace the UK-based stars if the British government does not grant them an exemption for the trip to Cape Verde, a red-listed country in their coronavirus watch.
However, Aikhomogbe, in a chat with from his base in Cairo, Egypt, revealed that with the calibre of players invited by Rohr, the Super Eagles will pick the maximum point in the two matches.
“I must confess that that Gernot Rohr has relly invited a very formidable squad to prosecute the 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Liberia and Cape Verde.
“After thoroughly looking at the squad, I really don’t think there is any missing link, most especially with the invitation of Frank Onyeka to the team, which I believe will serve as a perefct replacement for Wilfred Ndidi.
“In all, Liberia and Cape Verde have no hiding place because the Super Eagles will definitely show them how football is been played.”
