Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has been voted EA SPORTS Player of the Month for January ahead of Bukayo Saka and six other nominees, reports.
English topflight organiser made the announcement on Friday.
Gundogan scored five goals in the month, including spectacular efforts versus Chelsea, Crystal Palace and West Bromwich Albion, to help City to six successive wins on their way to the top of the Premier League table.
The 30-year-old wins the award for the first time and is the first Man City player to claim the prize since Sergio Aguero in January 2020.
Also shortlisted for the award were Craig Dawson, Jack Grealish, Bernd Leno, James Maddison, Matheus Pereira and John Stones.
In the category for Barclays Manager of the Month, the award went to City manager Pep Guardiola.
Guardiola has now won the award eight times, matching the total earned by Jurgen Klopp, Martin O’Neill and Harry Redknapp.
The Spaniard beat off competition from former assistant Mikel Arteta, David Moyes and Graham Potter.
City started the month with a 3-1 victory at Chelsea and would not concede another league goal in January.
Their winning streak also included beating Crystal Palace 4-0 at home and a 5-0 success at West Bromwich Albion.
Meanwhile, Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah won the Budweiser Goal of the Month award for his sensational counter-attacking goal at West Ham United.
