South Africa will take on hosts Nigeria on Tuesday, September 21. They are coming off a 3-0 victory over Ghana and will be looking to finish their international campaign in style.
Last Friday, Banyana Banyana defeated the Black Queens to earn their greatest win in all nine encounters and snap a six-match losing run against their West African counterparts.
The convincing victory provided Desiree Ellis' team a big boost of confidence ahead of their last match of the invitational tournament against Nigeria at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena.
The reigning African Women's Coach of the Year has discussed how her team plans to approach the Super Falcons in a high-profile warm-up match.
“We have more film of Nigeria playing other matches, which we must examine in order to analyze since the opponent is different. We have to be certain that the plan is correct,” Ellis says.
“They (Nigeria) scored two late goals against Mali, but we know what they're capable of. They aren't merely Africa's number one squad for no reason, and they have a long history of success. We have to be focused and at the top of our game.”
In terms of her probable lineup, the former South Africa international pledged to put out her finest legs in the hopes of upsetting Randy Waldrum's ladies.
“We're continuously looking for methods to beat other players while simultaneously winning the game. She went on to say, "We also want to put our best lineup on the field."
“Our guys are always willing to take on new challenges. It makes no difference who is picked. Over the previous several years, we've demonstrated that we trust the players and their talents, which is the most crucial factor. If the athlete is given a chance, I am confident they will succeed.”
