Pep Guardiola, Manchester City's coach, has claimed that his squad is driven by last season's Champions League final loss to Chelsea.
In the final in Porto, the Citizens were defeated 1-0 by Chelsea.
Guardiola claimed his team can utilize suffering to propel them forward this season, ahead of their season opener against RB Leipzig on Wednesday.
He stated, "I'm quite confident it can, I'm pretty sure." “You know, it hurts when you can't succeed because the players have feelings and souls. It's a fresh task for them to take on. These men have won three Premier League titles in the previous four years, and each year we believe we can improve.
“We reached the Champions League final, and that is incentive for them; they want it. However, there are a lot of other teams who want it as well. People can argue that Manchester City was a failure, and that's fine. Last season, we had a fantastic season, playing so many games and losing in the final to a strong challenger.
“We're just in September, and the final is in May, so a lot can happen between now and then. It depends on how you arrive in that time, on injuries, on the team's mindset — there are so many variables.”
