Nigeria reports 26 deaths and 165 new cases of COVID-19. Sunday

On Sunday, the Nigerian government revealed 26 more dead, bringing the total death toll to 2,882 from 2,856 the day before.

According to the NCDC, 165 new illnesses were reported across nine states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), bringing the total number of infections in the country to 210,460.

However, the NCDC highlighted that backlogs of fatalities and infections had been reported in Lagos State and the Federal Capital Territory.

While Lagos State recorded 23 deaths on October 18, 19, 20, and 23, 2021, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) reported three deaths on October 23, 2021.

Lagos State reported a backlog of 77 new cases for October 21, 22, and 23, 2021, while the FCT reported 43 cases for October 23, 2021.

According to the center, a total of 202,379 cases had been successfully treated and discharged as of Sunday, with Lagos State reporting 3,969 discharges.

Breakdown
Aside from the backlogs reported by Lagos State and the Federal Capital Territory, the data shows that Rivers State in the South-South registered 22 additional cases on Sunday.

The states of Oyo and Osun in western Nigeria each had ten and six cases, respectively.

In the south-south, Bayelsa and Edo states each reported two cases, while Kaduna and Kano in the north-west and Ogun State in the south-west each reported one case.

The NCDC also stated that no cases were reported in Taraba and Sokoto states on Sunday.
