It is no longer news that killings in the Northern region of Nigeria demand drastic measures as residents sleep at night with one eye opened; and as such, some stakeholders in the north has challenged President Muhammadu Buhari’s led administration to bring to the end the continued gruesome killings.

In a recent statement released by the Coalition Against Killings In Northern Nigeria, CAKIN, a list of demands was made to the government, including an ultimatum in regards to the insecurity challenges faced in the North.

CAKIN in the statement which was disclosed during its meeting held on Monday (today) revealed some of its resolutions on how insecurity can be overcome in the region.

Read below the demands of the independent group:

  • President Buhari should sack all service chiefs in the country:

CAKIN call and President Muhammadu Buhari who doubles as the commander-in-chief of the armed forces to immediately relief all Nigerian service chiefs of their duties.

  • Probe major security staff on corruption

The group charged the administration to call to order security personnel, investigate them and as well prosecute those living above their legal earnings.

  • End security votes

The coalition again admonished the APC administration to dissolve security votes by the state governors without further waste of time.

  • Community policing

CAKIN expressed its full support towards the idea of community policing and urge the government to ensure immediate and nationwide implementation of the same.

  • Ultimatum

CAKIN, however, threatened that it will mobilise citizens to fill the streets with protest should the government fail to act fast in addressing the horrible attacks claiming the lives of residents every day. The group issued a two-week ultimatum to President  Muhammadu Buhari to act in regards to its demands else citizens will shut the government down with its voices over the streets.
